Shaan dumps reality shows

You win some, you lose some and who better than Shaan to know that After seven years of hosting musical reality shows, he’s all set to quit hosting to save his dwindling singing career. As an anchor, Shaan has become a prominent face across the country since 2000.

Shaan said, “There are several issues that led to this decision. After hosting a show and shouting excitedly into the mike, my throat used to go for a toss. I’d been putting my singing career in jeopardy. Rehearsals were an impossible task. I felt my throat was totally ruined after every shoot. It’s not fair, singing is more important to me”

Earlier too Shaan had wanted to give up anchoring. “I’ve been hosting shows for a long time now. The novelty factor is gone. I wanted to give it up last year and I also discussed it with the producers. However, we wanted to make the next season better. Also, the fact that they couldn’t find another host, left me with no choice. But I’ve made up my mind now. Today, anyone can host a show, it is not necessary that he or she has to be a good singer.”

However, he admits that hosting the show had its own perks which he will have to do without. “It definitely adds to one’s popularity. I’ll miss it, but then one can’t have everything.”

Shaan has hosted shows like Sa Re Ga Ma, Sa Re Ga Ma Lil Champs and Voice of India among others.
