Darsheel Safary wants to play

He may have shown his prowess as an actor with his brilliant and heart wrenching portrayal as Ishaan Awasthi in Taare Zameen Par, but a fact that most tend to forget is that Darsheel Safary is only 12- years-old. And like any 12-year-old, Darsheel too wants to live a normal life which includes playing with friends, studying and doing nothing but having a blast during vacations. While Darsheel is no stranger to constantly being in the media glare since TZP released, this year he has taken a conscious decision to do nothing but enjoy his current Christmas vacations. Recently, Darsheel turned down several offers to making appearances on reality shows.
According to a source, as soon as Darsheel learnt that committing to certain reality shows would leave him with no time during his Christmas vacations, he politely turned down all offers. Darsheel wanted to spend all his free time doing things that he doesn’t get to do on other days.
When we tried contacting Darsheel, his father Mitesh Safary said, “Darsheel has gone to his friend’s place to play.” We asked him about Darsheel’s every day schedule. “Darsheel’s days are usually hectic. After returning from school, he has to attend two tuition classes. On weekends, he is busy with work, which leaves him with very little time to play. So, he’s turned down a lot of offers. He wants to do all that he doesn’t get to do on other days. He has been watching all the latest movies like Madagascar. He also goes for swimming, plays cricket with friends and visits temples. We often play X-Box at home. Darsheel is also studying everyday for two hours to cover up his school syllabus in advance, since he might miss a few classes in this January because he will be busy working,” said Mitesh Safary.
According to Darsheel’s father, Darsheel was busy during Diwali vacations as he was shooting. “Darsheel needs a break. He shouldn’t feel bogged down due to a monotonous work schedule. Working round the clock will not just bother him but will also tamper with his productivity and performance,” added his father.
We got to speak with Darsheel late in the evening after he got back home from his friend’s place. Darsheel said, “I’ve been listening to music, playing with friends and watching films. I am really enjoying my vacations.”
